WHAT IS THE PRESIDENCY IN THE EU COUNCIL?
Presidency in the EU Council is a 6-month rotating chairing of the Council works by different member states.
According to the Lisbon Treaty provisions, Poland will hold group Presidency with Denmark and Cyprus for 18 months, which requires close cooperation of the Trio countries.
In field of statistics, the main objective of the Central Statistical Office of Poland (CSO) is to chair and organize works of Working Party on Statistics.
Poland will hold the Presidency in the Council of EU from 1st July 2011
According to the Governmental Programme of Preparations to the Polish Presidency in second half of 2011, the Central Statistical Office is preparing itself, both in international and domestic arena, to the Presidency through creating objective teams, taking specialist trainings, undergoing study and consultation visits.
