TASKS OF THE STATISTICAL OFFICE IN POZNAŃ

The Statistical Office in Poznan belongs to the system of services of official statistics subject to the President of the Central Statistical Office and acts on the basis of:
  • Law dated 29. June 1995 on Official Statistics (Journal of Laws No. 88, item 439, with later amendments),
  • Charter of the Statistical Office in Poznan established by Order No. 15 by the President of the Central Statistical Office dated 25. November 1998 on Detailed Scope of Tasks and Organisation of the Statistical Office in Poznań (Official Journal of the CSO No. 18, item 127, with later amendments),
  • Organisational regulation for the Statistical Office in Poznan, established by Internal Order No. 14 by the Director of the Statistical Office in Poznań dated 23. December 2002 (sign: KO-0260-14/2002 with later amendments),
  • Law dated 18. December 1998 on Civil Service (Journal of Laws form 1999, No. 49, item 483 with later amendments).

According to the above documents, main tasks realised by the Statistical Office in Poznan include:

  • organisation and conduction of statistical surveys, of which censuses,
  • gathering, collection, storage and elaboration of data used to statistical surveys conducted according to the Programme of Statistical Surveys of Official Statistics,
  • dissemination and popularisation of resulting statistical information received as a result of the statistical surveys of official statistics, of which basic quantities and indices,
  • maintaining national official registers:
    • REGON - entities of the national economy,
    • TERYT - territorial division of the country, in a scope including area of the Wielkopolskie Voivodship,
  • realisation of the national tasks performed for the official statistics as a whole, i.e. i.a.:
    • conduction works connected with creation of the urban statistics, and especially initiation of surveys, elaborating methodology and coordination of activities in terms of large cities statistics,
    • partnership concerning preparation of elaborations and maintaining national data sets concerning forestry statistics, especially taking into account economy of forests owned by natural persons,
    • partnership concerning implementation of geographical information systems (GIS) into statistical surveys,
    • partnership concerning designing and analysis of statistical publications.
