Accession of Poland to European Community means imposing a new reporting obligation on enterprises trading with EU Member States This obligation consists in submitting to customs administration, in required form and manner, information on trade in commodities with EU Member States.
The INSTASTAT system has been enforced in Poland on May 1st, 2004.

Regulations in 2008 year obligatory
1. In year 2008 following values of thresholds have been established:
- basic threshold:
for arrivals 500.000 PLN
for dispatches 800.000 PLN
- detailed threshold:
for arrivals 33.000.000 PLN
for dispatches 49.000.000 PLN

Since 1 June 2005 there is one INTRASTAT HELP DESK operating round the clock and responsible for answering questions coming from all over Poland. HELP DESK is placed in INTRASTAT division in Customs Chamber in Katowice.
