According to preliminary data, in the period of January-April of 2012 46459 dwellings were completed, i.e. by 25.7% more than in 2011 (during which a drop by 17.6% was recorded), and by 3.6% more in comparison with the corresponding period of 2010.

 

In the period of the four months of 2012 57503 dwellings for which building permits were issued, i.e. by 8.9% more than in the corresponding period of 2011. The number of dwellings started also grew – to 51722, i.e. by 8.2%.

 

The highest share (56.8%) in the increase of the new housing stock was attributed to private investors who, in the period of January-April 2012, constructed 26399 dwellings, i.e. by 10.5% more than a year before. In comparison with the corresponding period of 2011, in this group of investors, a decrease was recorded in the number of building permits issued – to 28304 dwellings, i.e. by 4.9%, and in the number of dwellings started – to 25038 dwellings, i.e. by 8.1%.

 

Developers, in the period of the four months of 2012, completed 17609 dwellings (which accounted for 37.9% of the total number of dwellings completed), i.e. by 59.7% more than in the corresponding period of 2011 (during which a drop by 37.9% was recorded). Investors building for sales or rental obtained building permits 27911 for dwellings, i.e. by 33,1% more than a year before, and the number of dwellings started amounted to 24877, i.e. by 32.8% more than in 2011.

 

Housing cooperatives, in the period of the four months of 2012, completed 1277 dwellings against 822 a year before. The number of building permits obtained was lower – 544, i.e. by 37.5%, whereas the number of dwellings started increased to 1287, i.e. 66.3%.

 

Other investors (municipal, public building society and company construction), in the period of the four months of 2012, completed 1174 dwellings in total, i.e. by 4.3% less than in the corresponding period of 2011. In the reference period, 550 dwellings were competed in municipal construction (against 853 a year before), in public building society construction - 502 dwellings (against 272) and in company construction – 122 dwellings, i.e. by 19.6% more than in the corresponding period of 2011. The number of dwellings for which building permits were obtained decreased in this group of investors to 744, i.e. by 38.8%, and so did the number of dwellings started – to 520, i.e. by 49.4%.

 

In the period of January-April of 2012, a growth in the number of dwellings completed was recorded in all voivodships. The highest growth was recorded in Mazowieckie Voivodship – by 53.4%, Łódzkie Voivodship – by 45.5%, Zachodniopomorskie Voivodship – by 43.4% and Dolnośląskie Voivodship – by 41.8%.

 

In the period of the four months of 2012, a growth in the number of dwellings for which building permits were issued was recorded in ten voivodships (of which the highest in Podlaskie Voivodship – to 2137, against 956 a year before, in Mazowieckie Voivodship – by 24.9% and in Opolskie Voivodship – by 23.0%), and among the remaining six voivodships with a negative value of indices, the largest drop was recorded in Świętokrzyskie Voivodship – by 22.8%, Podkarpackie Voivodship – by 20.3% and Śląskie Voivodship – by 18.4%.

 

A growth in the number of dwellings started in the period of January-April of 2012 was recorded in nine voivodships, of which the highest in Podlaskie Voivodship – by 46.5% and Lubuskie Voivodship – by 30.8%, and among the remaining seven voivodships with a negative value of indices, the largest drop was recorded in Opolskie Voivodship – by 28.7%, Świętokrzyskie Voivodship – by 25.4% and Zachodniopomorskie Voivodship – by 16.4%. In Mazowieckie Voivodship, a growth in the number of dwellings started was recorded – to 11562, i.e. by 24.1%.
