Starting from 1 October 2004, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Communities has implemented a new strategy focused on free of charge data dissemination of European statistics. Users who need European statistical data have possibilities to find data on Eurostat website (in publications, databases etc) by different criteria.

Providing free access to the wide range of data, Eurostat in co-operation with national statistical institutions simultaneously set up a net of national centres called European Statistical Data Support – ESDS to supports users in working with European statistical information.

Since 1 October 2005, this service is provided by Information Division of the Central Statistical Office of the Republic of Poland located in Warsaw.
