NATIONAL CENSUS OF PEOPLE AND DWELLINGS 2011 will be conducted from the 1st April to 30th June 2011 as the first Census realized after Poland’s accession to the European Union. It will be conducted in the similar time and range of topics like in other EU member countries.


THE CENSUS will be conducted in a mixed method:

  • self-registration relying on completion and confirming information acquired from information systems (CAII)
  • telephone interview supported by computer program, conducted by an enumerator (CATI)
  • interview registered in mobile electronic appliance, conducted by an enumerator (CAPI).

The trial census is the most important preparation stage of the Census 2011.

It will be conducted from the 1st April to 31st May 2010 in 16 gminas. The aim of the trial census is to test the methodological as well as organizational and technical solutions expected to be used in the Census.

According to preliminary data, in the period January-February of 2010, 21 697 dwellings were completed, i.e. by 31,9% less than in 2009, and in comparison with the period January-February of 2008 this indicates a drop by 15,3%.
