According to preliminary data, in the period of January-December of 2011 131721 dwellings were completed, i.e. by 3.0% less than in 2010, and by 17.7% less in comparison with the corresponding period of 2009.
In the period of twelve months of 2011, 184101 building permits were issued, i.e. by 5.2% more than in the corresponding period of 2010. The number of dwellings started also grew – to 162200, i.e. by 2.6%.

The highest share (55.4%) in the increase of the new housing stock was attributed to private investors who, in the period of January-December 2011, constructed 73034 dwellings, i.e. by 3.7% more than a year before. In this group of investors, a decrease in the number of building permits issued was recorded, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2010 – to 96398 dwellings, i.e. by 2.6%. However, a growth was recorded in the number of dwellings started – to 90500 dwellings, i.e. by 4.7%.
Developers, in the period of twelve months of 2011, completed 50187 dwellings (which accounted for 38.1% of the total number of dwellings completed), i.e. by 6.2% less than in the corresponding period of 2010. Investors building for sales or rental obtained 81763 building permits, i.e. by 19.2% more than a year before, and the number of dwellings started amounted to 64706, i.e. by 2.7% more than in 2010.
Housing cooperatives, in the period of twelve months of 2011, completed 3834 dwellings, i.e. by 24.1% less than a year before. The number of building permits obtained was also lower - 3184, i.e. by 9.8%, and so was the number of dwellings started - 2263 dwellings, i.e. 513% less.
